Beautiful bronze signal cannon believed to be from the late 1800's. Extremely well made, with cast-in trunnions, very smooth bore, cupped interior breech, and excellent hardware. Barrel length = 21inches, bore = 1 3/4 inches, diameter at breech = 4 inches, barrel depth of bore = 16 3/4 inches. Estimated thickness of rear breech = 2 inches. Oak naval style carriage in excellent condition. (I'm not sure of why there are iron straps on one side.) Minor ding in muzzle (see photos). The large wooden wheels allow the carriage to roll over relatively rough surfaces. Item weight is around 60 pounds, which includes the carriage and hardware. I can provide additional information and pictures if requested.

It's very hard to get lighting and focus to obtain an accurate shot of the bore, but some images which show it in steps can be seen in these bore photos focused at different depths.

I do not want to dislose the reserve price during the auction, but it was determined by what I paid for the item at auction in 1991.

Buyer to pay actual packing and shipping charges from ZIP Code 05701. I will probably need to crate the barrel, and estimate that cost at approximately $20.
